It’s a proud day for me. As of version 0.12.0, I’m officially Rails contributor — the first open-source project I’ve directly contributed to. It’s a very humble patch, but it’s a great feeling to give something concrete back to such a wonderful project.
I’ve been playing with Rails since late last year, and have been fortunate enough to have a steady stream of paying projects using Rails since then. Count me amount the witnesses: Rails has substantially increased the joy that I take in my work. For the last few years, I worked almost exclusively in PHP. Gradually, it seemed that the air was getting stale in my work life, and so I started looking for alternatives — first Java, then Python. When I finally discovered Ruby and Rails last fall, it was like opening a window and feeling the rush of fresh air.
